DARK KNIGHT OF THE BAT
by Philip Gardiner

The world of Batman conjures up concepts of the dark nature of man. It reveals a sense of foreboding found at the edges of our imagination. And yet it also tells a tale of hope and resurrection of the soul.

According to popular history the comic book stories of this dual natured individual were created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, who in around 1939 grasped the rising current of collective hope on the brink of a world war and fostered a new ‘Superman’ in the guise of Batman.

The story goes that the millionaire Bruce Wayne, so tormented by the violent death of his parents decides that he needs to take revenge upon the criminals of Gotham City and searches his mind for an answer.
